Murals

The Old Town Shops is home to several murals done by (then) locally and (now) world renowned artist Joe Sorren.

Joe’s  involvement with the Old Town Shops started in the early 1990’s when  Joe was a student at Northern Arizona University.  Those early murals  are on the west side of the building and are a set of 6 panels depicting  early Northern Arizona life.  While these panels bear little  resemblance to Joe’s later works, those familiar with Joe’s style should  be able to pick out a couple of quirky details hidden within otherwise  straight forward historical pieces.

Nearly  a decade later, Joe again brought his talents and his paint brush to  the Old Town Shops.  This time however, the canvas was a bit more  unique… and the results are “The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux,” a one  of a kind addition to the Flagstaff artistic landscape.  For a more  detailed (and great photos) account of this mural, see what the folks at Arrested Motion have to say.
